    The spring semester of theater is set to kick off with the theme of "fight or flight." The main stage plays open up next Friday at 8 p.m. with "The Seagull" and will follow up with the opening of "Arms and the Man" Saturday. The plays are set to run for three weeks.

    Football season is the time for rivalries, for the "My team's better than your team" and the "Please let this team lose," but when the playoffs start, something special happens. Not only are the "bad" teams separated from the great, but at this time when the season is nearing its end, loyal fans of the fallen teams start to migrate and pick another team to root for.

    The College Union Board (CUB) kicked off the spring semester with loads of laughs, music and energy. John Cassidy - comedian, magician and balloon artist - entertained students last Friday night. Students were able to watch Cassidy twist balloons and craft many different things ranging from giant balloon dogs to multicolored balloon hats, and everything in between.

    Couponing is an ever-growing craze that is sweeping across the nation, saving people hundreds of dollars weekly. Yet, attached to couponing is a stigma that is hard to get away from. Usually, when people think ‘couponing,' a crazy coupon lady comes to mind, filling her cart full of groceries and handing over a pile of coupons for the cashier to ring up.

    Last Saturday night, Alpha Psi Omega (APO) sponsored the sixth annual New Plays in One Day Festival. "It's actually really exciting, because it represents a push by our students and the organization to take more leadership with our education and our art," Thomas Daniels, APO president, said.

    Edward Albee's "At Home at the Zoo" is anything but an average play. "At Home at the Zoo" is a two act play. The first act, "Homelife," was written in 2009. It was meant to be the prequel to the second act, "Zoo Story," which was written in 1958. This created a huge time discrepancy in the play.

    When we go to a theater performance, we always see the finished product, never the work that went into making that play ready for our viewing pleasure. Before the theater season even starts, proposals are written up for shows the department would like to perform.

  • CUB hosts bingo, double band event

    The College Union Board (CUB) will be sponsoring Rock Star Bingo and two bands at the Gathering Place on Friday. Rock Star Bingo will be held at 6 p.m. "I don't want to give everything away, but [prizes will] be affiliated with the theme," Jen Emmert, CUB music chair, said.
