Special collections preserve college, community history

The Special Collections department houses books, manuscripts, photographs, artwork and many other items regarding local history and Marietta College.Manuscripts include the Rufus Putnam papers, local government records and legal documents from 1788 to 1815, and the Charles Gates Dawes autograph collection.

Photographs include images of Marietta College buildings, faculty, students and events throughout the years. There are also photographs of Marietta, featuring river scenes, schools, businesses and floods, including the major flood in 1913.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to check out what Special Collections has to offer. Special Collections is open on Mondays and Fridays by appointment and Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
