Senior Corryn Muench is currently in her eighth year of competitive track and field. Muench, a double major in graphic design and advertising/public relations, has set numerous school records and has previously qualified to the NCAA DIII National Championship Meet in both the 4x400m relay and the 4x100m relay. Although Muench qualified she never got the chance to actually compete. This season she is looking to once again qualify for the championship meet and hopes to have a fast enough time to compete.

The Marc: What is your favorite event? Why?

CM: My favorite event is the 4x400 relay. I like it because it's such an exciting race. It's the last event of the meet and sometimes the team score depends on it. I like all of the enthusiasm and heart that goes into the event. Not only do you need four people who can run fast, but they have to have endurance too. It's a true test of athleticism.

The Marc: What is your favorite aspect of track?

CM: My favorite aspect of track has always been the variety of athletes that are able to compete in this one sport. I think a lot of people often just associate track with running, but there are so many other events that take just as much training and ability.

The Marc: What were your goals or expectations for this season?

CM: My goals for the season are to bring home a team OAC title and to qualify to the national meet. We are always very competitive, but this year I think we have a strong group of seniors and a lot of underclassmen who are stepping it up and doing well.

The Marc: As a senior, what is your role on the team?

CM: As a senior, my role on the team is to be a leader for the underclassmen as well as a main contributor to the team. I remember, as a freshman, having such great seniors and I'm hoping that I'm able to do the same things that they did for me.

The Marc: How does it feel to set two school records this early in the season?

CM: I'm really excited about setting the 200m and 300m records. It scares me a little bit to have hit them so early, but I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon. I hope to see a lot more records fall on both the men's and women's side over the rest of the season.

The Marc: What will you miss the most about running track?

CM: I think the thing I'll miss the most about track is the team. Track without the team is just running. I enjoy coming to practice every day and being around a group of hardworking people who all love the sport.
