As graduation gets closer, many seniors are beginning to look back on their time here.

"I'm gonna miss this place a lot. I feel like I have had the opportunity here to make solid relationships with a lot of people, and I am going to miss the many friends I've made here," senior Paul Bodager said. After graduation, he plans to head to Rice University in Houston, Texas to start work in a PhD program in chemistry. Bodager is excited about this new opportunity, and thinks it will be a great experience for him.

Marietta College's 172nd Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 10. The speaker will be Dr. Story Musgrave, a scientist, surgeon, and astronaut.

Musgrave, a Marietta College graduate himself, will be returning to his alma matter this spring to inspire a new generation of graduates to never stop dreaming and reaching for new goals.

"At commencement, I'll probably deal with experience, intelligence, (and) ambition. I think they're critical not just to education, but they're critical to life," Musgrave said in a college relations article earlier in the semester.

Musgrave is excited to be coming back to Marietta to speak.

In the same college relations article he said of the college, "It's no question. Hands-down Marietta had by far the best teachers," Musgrave said. "Marietta College had the best learning ambiance of any institution I've ever been to. You have real mentors there."

The college has planned an entire weekend of events for the graduating seniors and their friends and families including the dedication ceremonies for the library and planetarium on Friday, the Strawberries and Creme Luncheon and a family graduation reception on Saturday afternoon and the commencement ceremony on Sunday at 1 p.m., along with other activities.

A full schedule of events is listed at http://www.marietta.edu/academics/traditions/commence.
