"My World," the debut album from Canadian teen superstar Justin Bieber, was released Nov. 17, with the second part of the album to be released in March. The album debuted at number six on the Billboard charts and has remained successful since then. The album, made up of seven songs, falls very much in the stereotypical teen-pop category. Most of the songs are about girls, first love and other coming of age situations.

Bieber shows a lot of promise for only being 15 years old. He first gained fame from posting videos of himself singing on YouTube and went on from there. However, his youth plays against him at times, too. Some of his songs are not quite as polished as you might expect from someone with a little more experience. Also, because he is only 15, he is still growing into his voice and it is still changing, which can cause problems at times. Some of his songs, such as "Down to Earth" and "Bigger," which feature pop beats and jolty singing, emphasize his inexperience in the worst ways possible.

Still, there are times that his talent really comes through, like on the song "One Less Lonely Girl," which could hold its own against any Backstreet Boys or N'Sync song from the late 90s. "First Dance," a slower song about the first dance with a girl he really likes, also shines through. Part of what makes this song stand out is the contribution that Usher made. His singing really brings this song to a more mature level that Justin can't quite reach by himself yet.

For his debut album Justin Bieber shows a lot of promise, and although he's still got a long way to go, he is off to a great start. If he continues the way he is going now, then the follow up to "My World," as well as anything else Bieber does with his musical career, will continue to get better and better.
