Vice President for Student Life Dr. Pastoor is leaving behind a legacy at Marietta College while he starts a new journey at St. Joseph\u2019s College serving as their 18th<\/sup> president.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity I couldn\u2019t pass up and I\u2019m looking forward to the challenges ahead,\u201d Pastoor said. \u201cBut I\u2019ll miss the people, there\u2019s no doubt about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pastoor\u2019s last day will be March 16, where Dr. Richard Danford will fill his role as VP for Student Life and Diversity.<\/p>\n

St. Joseph\u2019s College is a Catholic school in Indiana, and Pastoor\u2019s career previous to MC has always been in Catholic Institutions. Pastoor said this was one of the things that really attracted him there.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an opportunity for me to get back into that [practice] \u2014I\u2019m a firm believer that things happen for the right reason,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Leaving an institution is always bittersweet, Pastoor said. He has been the VP for Student Life since 2010 and has been involved with bridging gaps between academic affairs and student affairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a goal of mine when I first got here and I think we\u2019ve accomplished a lot of that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Pastoor also taught the Intro to Leadership course for the McDonough leadership program. Several students, including junior Lauren Morain, knew him best as a professor.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has helped shape what the leadership program is and I\u2019m so thankful for what he has done for that and for me indirectly,\u201d Morain said.<\/p>\n

Senior Karl Grant, a student of Pastoor\u2019s, said his favorite memories are of Pastoor teaching his freshman leadership class.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Perucci became the interim provost so [Pastoor] stepped in to fill the leadership professor role\u2014I thought he did really well and he\u2019s incredibly funny,\u201d Grant said.<\/p>\n

Morain said she is excited for him, but that he will be missed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has had such an impact on the leadership program and on campus as a whole,\u201d she said. \u201cThat being said, I\u2019m so excited for him to take a position that will allow him to accomplish more and branch out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pastoor\u2018s focus as VP was on all aspects that impacted students success and overall experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m leaving with a very positive opinion of Marietta,\u201d he said. \u201cMy time here at Marietta has been a blessing to me and my family.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
