Marietta College Women’s Rowing will soon be back in action for their fall season. Coach Abby Lord said, “We had a really strong spring last year and the group really grew, and had a really tight knit core. Now, we’ve got a lot of youth, a really strong first year group.” The team wants to continue their success and start back off right where they ended last season. The Pioneers had a successful conference final at the Mid Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships. The women came in third place with a time of 7:14.03. The women also had a very successful season closer at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They placed third in the finals with a time of 7:00.03.

Rowing is a sport that takes a lot of teamwork to be successful, so the team has been focusing on just that. Coach Lord said, “This fall we’re really focusing on growing as a team and having some really good racing within the team.” The women’s rowing team starts fall season with the Head of the Muskingum on Saturday, October 15th in Marietta. After that race, the women are set to go head-to-head against division I competition as they take on University of Dayton right here in Marietta. They will end their fall season when they head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on October 29th.

Coach Lord is excited for this upcoming season and the potential of the team. Coach Lord said, “I’m super excited about what all is in store for this school year and heading into spring; and what foundation we can lay in the fall.”
