In honor of Native American Heritage month, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion hosted a series of events. The first event held on November 14th, was an evening of songs and stories with singer songwriter Steve Free. Steve is internationally recognized for his songwriting and for presenting traditional folklore and stories of Indigenous people to modern audiences. Students not only learned about traditions and stories but got to try to speak several languages and attempted a dance.

The Second event was the next night, November, 15th with guest speaker Ty Smith. Ty is the project director at NICCO, the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio, and is a registered member The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Oregon. Students learned of NICCO and their work across the state, as well as social movements and systemic issues surrounding indigenous people across the country.
