We’re not done yet, let’s dance with a trip to the NCAA tournament. This is what the Marietta College women’s basketball team learned on Monday in their next steps towards winning a national title. Last weekend the team traveled to Ohio Northern University to face off against the nationally 18th ranked Polar Bears, and would fall just short of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. They just couldn’t get the needed stops and had a hard time scoring is what Coach Kole Vivian said after the loss on Saturday. Coming off that loss the team received one of the at-large bids, and now looks to start a new beginning in hopes of winning a national championship
Currently Coach Vivian is in his seventh year coaching the Lady Pioneers and looking to get the team back in the win column this week. The Pioneers are 20-7 coming out of regular season play and hope this fresh start to March is what they need to get back on track to win the big one, the national championship. Last year was the second time in school history that the Lady Pioneers were in the NCAA tournament. They defeated Wittenberg University in the Round of 64 last year, but would fall short of the win against Hope College in the Round of 32. With this being their third time in school history to make the tournament they feel confident and ready to get back at it on the court. The Lady Pioneers will travel to Ithaca, New York and are set to play Eastern Connecticut on Friday at 5PM.
