Marietta’s 2023 Homecoming Court Crowned

For Marietta College students and alums, Homecoming is a week of excitement and for some nervousness at which one will be crowned king and queen.  

On the Marietta Homecoming court there were twelve candidates, eight running for Queen and four running for King. Voting for Homecoming King and Queen opened Thursday at 8:00 a.m. and was open until Friday at 5:00 p.m.  

The 2023 Queen Candidates were: 

  1.  Jess Brown (Brookville, Ohio) is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Coaching. Jess is representing the Softball Team.  
  1. Kennedy Couch (Lancaster, Ohio) is majoring in Biochemistry with a Leadership minor. She is representing Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).  
  1. Katrina Dunseith (Sardinia, Ohio) is majoring in Special Education Elementary Dual Preparation. She is representing the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. 
  1. Hannah Kroft (Marietta, Ohio) is majoring in Marketing and Sport Management. She is representing the Women’s Basketball Team.  
  1. Kyla Morris (Barnesville, Ohio) is majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Leadership Studies. She is representing the Gardening Club.  
  1. Logan Osborne (Wilmington, Ohio) is majoring in Art with minors in Psychology and Leadership Studies. She is representing the Chi Omega sorority.  
  1. Marley Phillippe (Easton, Maryland) is majoring in Educational Studies. She is representing the Women’s Lacrosse Team.  
  1. Grace Wharton (Barlow, Ohio) is majoring in Political Science with a minor in Leadership Studies. She is representing the Sigma Kappa sorority.  

The 2023 King Candidates were: 

  1. Grant Howard (Galena, Ohio) is majoring in Information Systems with a minor in Cyber Security. He is representing the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.  
  1. Tyler Johnston (Granville, Ohio) is majoring in Sport Management with a Strategic Communication minor. He is representing the Office of Community Living.  
  1. Nathan Ritchie (Barlow, Ohio) is majoring in Management with minors in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He is representing the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.  
  1. Evan Saribalas (Columbus, Ohio) is majoring in Applied Physics with a minor in Mathematics. He is representing the Men’s Rowing Team. 

The winner for both king and queen were announced during the half-time ceremony during the Marietta College Pioneers home game against the Heidelberg Student Prince’s. Your Marietta College football team would beat Heidelberg with a score of 37-14. The Pioneers moved to a 5-2 overall record and a 4-2 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

As for the results, Kennedy Couch would be crowned as the 2023 Homecoming Queen and joining her as King was Tyle Johnston!
