Intramural Basketball Season Kicks Off

Marietta College intramural sports are back on campus. Last semester basketball had a 3v3 tournament which the Layup Line Legends won. This January a 5v5 basketball tournament started. Two leagues were held for this tournament, a competitive league, and a recreational league. Competitive games happen every Monday while Recreational games happen every Tuesday in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

The season last throughout February with the final games of the regular season being held on February 16th. Each team will play in four games total before the championship game takes place on February 23rd.

In week one of the competitive league MMW defeated the Dream Team 87-70. Lukas Ratliff led the Dream Team with 34 points and 15 rebounds. On the other hand, MMW is quite balanced with their starting five averaging over 10 PPG.

The Spicy Meatballs squeaked by MC FC 60-58. The Meatballs are led by a big three in Zander Stroup, Dalton Miller and Louis Goodnow. The Marietta College Football Club was led by Lee Miller and their captain Ben Beckman. Miller led the team with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

Alpha Tau Omega dominated the Marietta Geekers 96-38. The Geekers top offensive performer was Trey Booker with 12 points and their top defensive performer was Kalem Sabree with 7 rebounds. ATO had the two of the leagues top offensive performers. Franko Rome scored 36 points and league commissioner Quentin Sheets scored 33 points. Sheets also led the team and league in rebounds with 21.

In the day’s doubleheader, the Meatballs scored a second win defeating MMW 65-61.

For the recreational league, It’s Our Ball Ain’t It defeated White Boys & Touchdowns 80-59 and the Hog Squad 108-67. It;s Our Ball is well rounded with four players over 15 PPG.

The Hog Squad is 0-2 on the season as they lost to Wet Ball 71-50 along with their lost to Our Ball. The team is led by Captain Brad Kennedy as he has 22.5 PPG. Wet Ball scored their second win over Green Light Only. 108-67. They’re led by Connor Barry who also averages 22.5 PPG. Team Captain Cameron Logue leads the team in rebounds at 8 RPG.

The Green Lights are no slouches either. They beat the Win Or Lose 100-43. Team Captain Karlee Ziliak has 19 PPG while Devin Hershberger leads the team at 19.5 PPG and 18 RPG.

The Win or Lose lost their second game as well, this time versus the Prestigious Boys. The Prestigious have an incredible defense only allowing 33 PPG. Their team leader is Ronald Bricker. He has 10 RPG and 10.5 PPG. In their first game they defeated the Petroleum Team 36-33.

The Petroleum team recovered from their loss and improved to 1-1 with a win over WB & TD. Their defense also held strong as they won 50-35. Caleb Schaffer leads the team with 14.5 PPG and 7 RPG.
