The Pioneers find themselves at 5-6 at the end of March. With 4 games left to play they look to clinch the OAC playoffs. They last made th OAC quarterfinals in 2024 where they were eliminated. However, currently their conference record is 1-3.
They started March with a 2-2 record with their first game being against Fransiscan University. The men extended their undefeated streak over Fransiscan to 6-0 as they beat Fransiscan on the road 16-9.
They won their first game of spring break as for the second year in a row they defeated Averett University. In Virginia they beat Averett 10-4.
However they also lost during spring break as their second game in Virginia was versus Bridgewater College and they lost 18-6.
This marked their last non-conference game as they finished 4-3 in those games, slightly worse than last season’s 5-2 record.
They’d start their Ohio Athletic Conference games 0-2 as they lost to Baldwin Wallace University and Capital University. The Pioneers have yet to defeat the Yellow Jackets in men’s lacrosse as they fall to 0-7 after their 23-6 loss at home. Likewise for Capital as they fall 0-9 overall vs Capital this year losing 13-6 in Columbus.
Fortunately Marietta College were able to continue their winning streak over Heidelberg University. A strong third quarter got them the win as they won 13-9.
Most recently against Muskingum University the Pioneers lost 4-12 at home. This game had huge playoff implications as now they are 7th in the OAC standings behind Mount Union who is currently 1-1.
They have four games left in the regular season which wraps up on April 22nd. They are home this Friday versus Ohio Northern University at home at 1:00 p.m. in Don Drumm. to purchase tickets for the game: https://pioneers.marietta.edu/sports/2020/10/12/online-ticketing.aspx
