The Marietta College Esports program has had an explosive start to their Fall 2026 season. Currently at a record of 10-4, this is the best start to a season in the program’s history.
But this isn’t the only exciting news for the college’s Esports program. Head coach and director Derek Games recently added a minifridge to the room — stocked with Celsius energy drinks and Oh Snap! Pickles.
At the start of the semester, an esports athlete expressed her love of her favorite snack brand and encouraged Coach Games to reach out to them. Games was sure that Oh Snap! would leave him with either no message at all or a rejection, but to his surprise, they were excited to help the program.
Oh Snap! made an in-kind donation of some of their briny bites. They sent a box full of four flavors of their pickle bites, as well as some of their pickled cranberries. Marietta College Esports students show their gratitude by playing well in their matches and having a bag of their favorite flavor of pickles.
“It’s nice to have a little snack in the Esports room, especially when we’re here late and have games,” said esports student Sol Briggs ‘29.
The Esports program has come a long way in seven years and plans to improve every semester. With the fuel of pickles, the team might have their best season to date. Go Pios!
