Student Spotlight: Building a Business, One Card at a Time

Grayson Baumann, recruited by the Marietta Rowing team, is a freshman majoring in entrepreneurship. He is originally from Ojai, California but decided to pack up his life and move across the country to Marietta, Ohio. Baumann has been around business his whole life; his parents started their own companies when they were young. So, from an early age, they taught him to always think like a businessman.

Baumann isn’t just a full-time student; he’s a full-time rower, and business owner. Baumann runs a business with his father, Kurt Baumann. Both are vendors for Pokémon and One-Piece cards, together they made Fulcrum Cards.

This isn’t Baumann’s first rodeo. Over the years, he has created multiple websites. However, none of them have stuck like PokePrint. PokePrint is a tool for people who collect Pokémon cards to help them complete what some would call a master set. A master set is a collection that includes one of every single card from a specific set or a specific Pokémon. On the website, once you found what you would want to create a master set in, you would then print it out, cut out the inserts, and slide them into your card binder.

The idea of PokePrint started when Baumann’s partner made master set inserts out of index cards. She would put what set the card came from, the number of the card, and what Pokémon was on the card. It would take her hours to complete small amounts of work. So, Baumann decided to code a website for his use only to help her make the inserts. Once Baumann made the first demo of the website, he realized how helpful it was, that only made him want to improve the website. Since then, he has poured his heart into PokePrint.

In May of 2026, PokePrint went live. Baumann was over the moon to finally have a starting point. He started to advertise in July, and soon after subscribers started to roll in. Once again, he was ecstatic. Seeing people use the tool that he worked on for so long was better than money, “For me I couldn’t care less how much money I get from this. I’m just happy people are collecting Pokémon. It’s like I’m a kid all over again.”

At the end of the day, Baumann is a student here on campus; he has homework and responsibilities as an athlete, but what makes him different is how he uses his time. Baumann has put mass amounts of time into PokePrint, and it shows. It’s exciting to see where he will go next.

Make sure to follow alongside Grayson Baumann in the PioBiz competition at Marietta College. You can find his website at PokePrint.net.
