Doo Dah Day 2019 was seen as a great success by the Marietta College community. The weather was warm and dry as the students enjoyed friends on the Harrison hall lawn and parking lot.

The event kicked off at five p.m. with a catered dinner from Parkhurst Dining that included sliders and mini hot dogs, a homage to fair food. A beer garden was also featured at dinner, giving students of legal age an opportunity to share a beer with classmates.

The event is targeted towards students, faculty and residents. Inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses were a favorite of those in the community with young children. Groups of middle school aged kids were lined up to play a bow and arrow game with foam arrows.

Going into the day, the weather seemed that it would be gloomy. The forecast showed rain all day and high winds. For this reason, the school canceled the hot air balloon rides that are tradition of Doo Dah Day. The weather followed the forecast in the early part of the day before clearing up around four p.m.

The event was concluded with a concert by Vesperteen. The show that is typically held outdoors was pre planned to be held in the Gathering Place due to inclement weather.

Amanda Arrowwood, senior, said that “this Doo Dah Day has been the best one yet. The event got better and better each year.”

Cooper Chaffin, freshman, noted that the event lived up to the hype.

“I had a really fun time. Everyone was saying how it is the most fun day of the year, it lived up to it,” said Chaffin.

Doo Dah Day is an annual event at Marietta College and is usually a favorite amongst students. The tradition will continue for years to come.
