The Marietta College girl’s volleyball team’s season came to an end when Muskingum University defeated the girls 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-18). The Muskies are ranked 11th in the nation and will advance to the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday. The Pioneers finished the season 14-16, and the Fighting Muskies will improve to 26-2 on the season.

Alissa Ginther, Hailey Fuller, Brooke Trimble, Maris Kaiser, Maddie Nader, and Sam Ritenour gave a big-time effort to keep the MC offense in attack mode. The match started out back-and-forth, but when the Muskies took a 13-9 lead in the match, it was hard for the Pios to get back in line. This led to a spark for the Muskies in the next two sets from the rip, as they started both off on fire.

The Pios were led by Ginther as she had 11 kills, and a block assist. The defensive effort was led by Makayla Schilling led the defense with 13 digs in the match. Trimble had a game-high in blocks with five, and Fuller played an all-around game with six kills, five digs, and three total blocks.

The Pios will get back to work in the off-season, as they are a young team with many hard workers. For more information visit https://pioneers.marietta.edu/news/2019/11/5/womens-volleyball-pioneers-defeated-in-oac-quarterfinals.aspx
