Brother to Brother is an organization that deserves much more recognition around campus for its prodigious goals. “Brother to Brother is an open-minded, non-judgemental organization that is comprised of a united front of men. We value acceptance, respect, creativity, hard work, and unity. We promote a space to engage in educated discussions that stimulate our minds to become better men. We strive to influence these values and goals within the Marietta College community and beyond,” said senior and president, James Knox, when asked about the group’s mission statement.

The organization has come and left throughout Marietta College’s history, but a group of strong-minded individuals rebooted it in recent years; furthermore, determined young men have continued to join and keep the group tenacious.

Brother to Brother has stayed active with many events including “Barbershop Talk”, fundraising and donating, and doing charitable work around the town. Everybody involved gets the opportunity to work with others that hope to be successful, and young men of color and friends are provided a safe haven to discuss topics of interest, eventually developing professional and social skillsets.

When asked what he wants the campus to know about the organization that it may not, James responded, “We’re a predominantly black group, as everyone knows, but we accept all races. As our mission statement says, we’re non-judgemental; we want you to feel free to express yourself and we’ll accept you for who you are.”

Knox also expressed how B2B is open to ideas and suggestions. They are very willing to collaborate with the ideas of the students and other organizations on campus.

All in all, Brother to Brother is an organization that can be very positively influential to the entire campus in many ways. Marietta College needs a group that is willing to pull people who may feel isolated out of their shells, such as this one. There is a group of individuals set on being successful, and B2B will help bring out skills individuals were unaware were within themselves.
