Stressed out to the point of exhaustion is what students at Marietta College feel as the week comes towards an end. Don’t panic, Marietta Mindset is here yet again, to save the week with another Feel-Good Friday. This past Friday, September 22nd Marietta Mindset partnered with Suicide Awareness Alliance in Washington to help students destress and learn about suicide prevention. This was the primary theme of the event due to September being Suicide Awareness month. For this event students were able to get free cookies, talk to volunteers about suicide prevention, talk to other students, and receive baggies full of items including bracelets. This event allowed students to destress in the middle of classes while also congregating with their peers.

Marietta Mindset is the club that organizes these campus events each week to help students relax and destress from the long week. Marietta Mindset is a student-led, inclusive and involvement club at Marietta College. This organization puts on student-led events for people on campus to escape their reality of a stressful college and turn into a young adult that gets to cool off for a little bit with their friends and acquaintances. Every event has its own theme like this past Friday, was suicide prevention, while the first Friday of the month was Food Truck Friday. What’s different about Marietta Mindset is that their events are campus wide and not specifically for their club only. Hence their events encourage and promote involvement with the full community.

“Marietta Mindset was created right after covid”, said Colin Walters, Marietta Mindset President. “The reason why we created this movement and club was due to the lack of mental health awareness and officials here on campus, stated Walters.” There was a need for students to get the help they needed, and the best way to do that was a student-led organization like Marietta Mindset. “Nobody should suffer alone or in silence when we’re all here together for each other,” says Walters. Marietta Mindset’s goal is to create longevity with the organization by reaching more students through their events. If more people join, the better the odds become. Anyone can join the club; and it’s a very easy process. All you have to do is reach out to him or the organization.

Mental health is very important to the college itself, faculty, staff, and students. Marietta Mindset takes pride in hosting these events. If you or a friend are feeling down or stressed on a Friday, you must check out Marietta Mindset on a Feel-Good Friday.
